Gateway Senior High School's BSU Mission Statement
The Black Student Union (BSU) at Gateway High School was established to celebrate and highlight the richness of our school’s ethnic diversity. It provides a platform for students of diverse backgrounds to have a voice on campus (agency), fostering open dialogue and meaningful interaction within the school community (belonging and connectedness). The BSU advocates for the needs of all students, with a particular focus on recognizing, empowering, and educating others about the African American experience and promoting Black Excellence. Activities may include guest speakers, field trips, group discussions, social and informational gatherings, and Black History Month celebrations, among others.
